Hard
Moderate evidence confidence · 77% evidence coverage
This score is driven most by substantial race distance, technical terrain, exposure and self-sufficiency. Difficulty V2's separate time-limit modifier adds 0.00 points here and is capped at 0.70; a broad limit cannot erase extreme intrinsic demand. This is independent of the public Cutoff Pressure V2 band.
Course analysis
Expect sustained upland ground and meaningful climbing, forest trail that may change character in wet conditions, exposed moorland where weather can amplify the difficulty.
Climbing density
27.5m per km
A more useful comparison than total ascent alone: it shows how consistently the course asks you to climb.
Cutoff analysis
To finish inside 38h, the raw average required is 13:37 per kilometre (21:55 per mile), including every stop.
Cutoff pressure compares the published time limit with distance, ascent and verified course demands. Lower pressure does not mean the race is easy. Raw pace includes checkpoints, food stops, navigation errors and any sleep; it is not a pacing plan.
Who this suits
This is not designed as a first-ultra recommendation. Significant endurance, navigation or mountain-race experience is strongly advised.
1.8/10 suitability
Navigation
Do not assume closed-road-race levels of signage. Know the organiser’s navigation requirements and keep the official route available.
Exposure & kit
Significant overnight running is likely for many entrants. Lighting, temperature management and sleep strategy can materially affect the outcome.
Personal race predictor
Use a previous result to estimate a realistic range for Ultra Scotland 100, your potential buffer and the biggest change in demand.
Practical detail
Logistics are only shown where currently recorded. Confirm parking, transport, crew access and final aid-station plans with the organiser.
Latest verification
The official event page verifies the 5–6 June 2027 schedule, 104 miles, 4,611m ascent, 38-hour cutoff, £229 fee and ten checkpoints on the waymarked Southern Upland Way. Its vital statistics say 250 places while the 100-mile listing says 200; 250 is retained with Medium confidence and the conflict is explicit.
Event details can change after a successful source check. Confirm the final route, kit, cutoff, price and entry terms directly with the organiser before entering or travelling.
