Very hard
Moderate evidence confidence · 79% evidence coverage
This score is driven most by substantial race distance, accumulated fatigue and format burden, exposure and self-sufficiency. Difficulty V2's separate time-limit modifier adds 0.35 points here and is capped at 0.70; a broad limit cannot erase extreme intrinsic demand. This is independent of the public Cutoff Pressure V2 band.
Course analysis
The course combines trail, mixed terrain.
Climbing density
9.7m per km
A more useful comparison than total ascent alone: it shows how consistently the course asks you to climb.
Cutoff analysis
To finish inside 40h, the raw average required is 10:08 per kilometre (16:20 per mile), including every stop.
Cutoff pressure compares the published time limit with distance, ascent and verified course demands. Lower pressure does not mean the race is easy. Raw pace includes checkpoints, food stops, navigation errors and any sleep; it is not a pacing plan.
Who this suits
There is not enough verified information to assess first-ultra suitability yet.
Navigation
Do not assume closed-road-race levels of signage. Know the organiser’s navigation requirements and keep the official route available.
Exposure & kit
Significant overnight running is likely for many entrants. Lighting, temperature management and sleep strategy can materially affect the outcome.
Personal race predictor
Use a previous result to estimate a realistic range for Viking Way Ultra, your potential buffer and the biggest change in demand.

Starts 07:00 outside the old coastguard station at Barton-upon-Humber and finishes by 23:00 Sunday at Oakham Library. Genuine intermediate cutoffs are 12.5h at 50 miles and 26.5h at 100 miles. Entry requires a prior non-stop 100-mile finish and is prioritised by experience. GPS coordinates/navigation are prohibited; runners use maps and yellow Viking Way markers. Batch C owns this family because the start and main route are Lincolnshire; Rutland is a finish tag only.
Event details can change after a successful source check. Confirm the final route, kit, cutoff, price and entry terms directly with the organiser before entering or travelling.
