Check the published distance and course format together. A timed challenge with a marathon option and a fixed-distance race have different arrangements. Surface, distance certification, elevation and entry status are separate facts. Follow the organiser’s current information before deciding.
The main marathons page also keeps races awaiting a next date separate from confirmed editions. An earlier edition is useful context, not evidence of a future date or unchanged route.
